As there are always some questions i thought it would be a good idea to put them in one place. Hope you dont mind.\ Mike
---
Question:
When you build the dual encoder with the plastic core, drilling and connection with a nail or other thin metal, do you connect these to the 2x 3positions on the board. Are they contra on one side?
As you now have the following setup on the board CONNECTION
|
| CONNECTION
| CONNECTION
| CENTERHOLE | CONNECTION | CONNECTION |
| CONNECTION |
But if i insert the encoder from the back side the clock and 5 volt would be turned. Correct If im correct you need 5volt, output A outputB, ground. Or are we just using the Output A&B with Ground in the middle?
If this is the case we would need to make it so that one encoder is on the front side and on on the backside of the PCB else we would be to high for the faceplate, correct.
Sorry but im strugeling with this subject.

Hi Mike Yes you solder one encoder in one side and the othe one on the backside. Yes they are A and B pins and GND in the middle, no matter how they are, you can change direction in mobiflight by swaping the pin numbers. So yes to all your questions

Thanks, this makes it clear. Ill be drilling some holes in the next days. Cheers, Mike
PS got a 3d Prusa inhouse now. So will be doing some 3D printing soon.

Hey there! i downloaded the PCB files and tried to buy them with jlcpcb.com. The Problem is, that it does not work, i try to load it to the website but it wont recognize it. Than I saw that someone used Proteus 8 demo version to unpack that file and repack it into a gerber file but the Preoteus 8 demo version doesnt even recognize the PCB files!!
What can I do? I would like to order those PCB´s.
Thanks in advance!

I have just tested uploading to JLPCB and it works... . Just upload the ZIP file.

Hi Ableagle,
I have found an issue with the DME Encoders pin outs. There is a short between pins 29 & 32 see image so there is no way to connect the encoder. Any ideas. to reroute this via a simple wire, andby cutting the strand between the two?

Hi there, yes, I see I forgot to edit DME+ with DME- and this happened, I apologize for that, just cut the track between those two and connect the other one via a simple wire to the encoder.

Just to make sure there is nothing connected to that port? just the short. I can break the line on one side of the board.

Having problems with the VS encoder, seems to drop out maybe a power issue? Any ideas to move the vs_ vs+ to different ports. (Board) It also seems that the displays are not in a chronological order. I have been playing with Airmanager and there is a lot to check but we will get there.

Hi Polarair,
Couple of comments.
1) I don't think the DME display is really set up to use the DME encoder at all. If you were to tune it using the encoder (usually one just uses Nav1 or Nav2) then I can't imagine how you would switch from a frequency mode to the NM / KT mode. So, unless I'm missing something I wouldn't worry too much about that encoder...
2) Just for reference my VS encoder for the AP is working well without power issues. I find the displays sometimes drop out if the pins aren't engaged fully in the sockets, sometimes pressing on them will light them up.

Two questions...
1) Can you give me an FSUIPC offset for the CRS display on the autopilot? I can't seem to find one.
2) Do you have a conditional statement that allows entry of any combination of numbers in the transponder? I'm having trouble getting it to shift from the 1000's to the 100's to the 10's to the 1's with each number entry. I can get VFR to just enter 1200 but I'd like to be able to enter other codes as well.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: the short between Pins 29 and 32, AlbEagle you said " just cut the track between those two and connect the other one via a simple wire to the encoder" can you be a bit more specific about "connect the other one via a simple wire to the encoder."... from where to where does the simple wire need to go/to? Thanks
