Hey guys,
I've been working on this intermittently for a while. I think it is ready to go once I get my computer set up to run the new microsoft flight simulator. I thought I'd post a picture here to show an alternate approach to the faceplate. I had it cut and laser engraved (using Ponoko). The buttons I first 3D printed thinking I would use the white buttons and fill in the lettering as Albeagle had suggested but I really couldn't get them to look perfect. I ended up engraving and cutting small rectangles that I glued to the top of the 3d printed buttons. They look pretty decent. Anyway, one more thanks to Albeagle for designing this stack and sharing the PCB files and 3D files etc.

Laser engraving is the best option but since i don't have one, I went with 3d printing.
