Hi, Here you will find the resistors, values and to what they are connected to. Sorry a small mistake, below the correct one: Resistors.xlsx (10.57 KB)

Please check the +5V and +3V on the Arduino and Arduino board if maybe there is a short while soldering the pins. Also check the same on the FCU pins.

I ended up replacing a couple of the max chips and I almost have things worked out. The VS encoder works but not as expected. If I turn it to the left the VS decreases but if I turn it to the right the ALT increases by 1000. The ALT encoder works fine. Any ideas why the VS encoder would be controlling the ALT + side?

Can you please post a picture of the back of the FCU where I can see the encoder connections. There can be one of three possible issues 1. Wrong wire connected to the wrong pin (this is not the case here because the ALT encoder is working properly) 2. Any shorting between VS and ALT pins. 3. Wrong Mobiflight values Below the correct values for the VS encoder Left Right

It has to be mobiflight. I’ll check it later tonight once I’m home. I uploaded a bunch of pictures. Let me know if this link doesn’t work. imgur.com/a/Jovsx8N

Creating the faceplate and graphics with a laser would look much better and would give the FCU a nice look, I don't have one and my CNC machine is defect so I printed the faceplate on a paper and glued it to the 3d printed faceplate. youtu.be/4jvZUVuDHgQAlbEagle

I’m almost there. I have a laser, 3D printer and CNC. I’m trying to work out the last issue I’m having. All the displays, buttons and encoders work as excepted. The only issue I have left is when I turn the VS encoder the VS display goes dark until I restart mobiflight. I have an amp meter on it and it doesn’t appear to be shorting out so I don’t know what’s going on. I tried another encoder that’s why the Vs encoder is loose. Here is a link to a video I took of the issue. imgur.com/a/yCert5pI’m so close. I ordered the on/off and rotary switch and then I can button it up once the last issue is resolved.

Well there has to be something hardware related i thing because I see the LED's flickering when you rotate the encoder. I suggest to check the VS encoder resistors (R31, R32). To make sure that is not a mobiflight programming issue, you can save the current configuration and create a new one from scratch only with one display and one encoder to simulate only the VS. Regards AlbEagle I’m out of ideas. I’ve replaced all the max chips, registers and gone over the board completely looking for any that could be wrong. My last hope is to pull some leds off the board and see if that helps. Nothing is shorting out.

Can you also use that VS spare encoder somewhere else (HDG, ALT or SPD) just to make sure is not the encoder's fault. Have you tried a new config on mobiflight with only the VS display and the VS encoder.

While rotating the encoder, the screen goes off and the LED's flicker, it means the encoder rotation is causing the issue. But this is how the encoder is connected: +5V power from the Power supply goes through the resistor to the encoder pin, and from there to the arduino pin. Which means it doesn't affect the display, any max chip or LED's directly, it only sends a signal to the arduino pin. So either there is a short somewhere, the encoder is bad or mobiflight config (any precondition).
