They are unfortunately not, because the majority of them need to turn on a LED to show that they are pressed, not much place for backlight LED's. 2. I am working on the faceplate, there is progress, I will let you know once it is done

I'm probably missing something regarding the LED's? the LED pin holes for the buttons are already there, is it not possible to use them instead of the external LED?
as for the Xpdr / COM / DME buttons - they just need constant backlighting AFAIK?
BTW, in the real ones I fly, I don't think I've seen the audio panel like this one, the common ones are these:
but I imagine they are both a lot more complicated? and I'm not sure they are supported in software.

Yes, you can use either one, they are both connected to the same source. I did it this way so people could choose if they want to use tactile buttons with LED's integrated or external LED's. Xpdr, com, dme buttons are unfortunately not connected to VCC. The reason for that is that they would need extra resistors and the space was tight. Regarding the audio panel, to be honest I have never had the chance to be on a real cessna, I designed the panel based on the FSX radio stack, with some mods I did to the autopilot panel to be able to use it with airliners as well.

I imagine you are referring to these buttons?
any idea how to use the 3D printed buttons with these?

Yes exactly. I am currently working on the faceplate with the external LED's, which is easier to implement, but I will be doing the other option as well.

wonderful, I have one almost soldered completely with the external LED's, when you are done with the second face-plate, I'll solder the other with LED buttons

BTW, for the buttons that are constantly lit, can't you chain them together in series and use one resistor for 4 or 5 of them? that would save a lot of space.

one other small fix for the PCB: the xponder ident button holes are too small

and another Q - are the push buttons of the auto pilot encoders functional?

and another Q - are the push buttons of the auto pilot encoders functional? Three of them are functional: Spd, Hdg and Alt. The VS encoder switch is not connected.

good to know, almost connected the ones from the old board I de-soldered that had no button...

one other small fix for the PCB: the xponder ident button holes are too small The program I am using to design the PCB's is great but sometimes it messes up things. It has messed up this Ident button holes, even though it is the same switch that i have used for the other buttons. It has messed up the GPS V2.2 dual encoders, even though I have used the same encoders Sometimes it is very frustrating.
